Maui News, Saturday Homes: Phase II offers spacious lots, scenic vistas and tranquility

Nine of the ten lots in Phase II of Ōma'opio Ridge will soon be available for sale.

The five to seven acre lots range in price from $1,195,000 to $1,995,000. Underground utilities and a private water system will serve the home sites which have ocean and mountain views.

Fed by a private well, Phase II will include two more storage tanks with 144,000 gal-lon capacity. Two storage tanks are already in place at Phase I. The developer is looking to amend Maui Electric power with photovoltaic power for some of the pumps .

Ōma'opio Ridge is located off Ōma'opio Road on Ikena Kai Place. The subdivision is about 15 minutes from Central Maui, the majority of the drive being on the improved portion of Ōma'opio Road through the sugar cane fields.

This was a Native Hawaiian dry land forest, petroglyphs were discovered in the gulch during an archeological survey of the area. Stretches of dry land grass are dotted with Kiawes trees, deer, Pueo (owl) and pheasant.

Landscaping along the road in Phase II will be of the type indigenous to the area. Pains were also taken to preserve a Kiawe tree in the center of a turn around at the top of the main road and along a narrower road which continues beyond that point to two lots at the top of the subdivision.

Protective covenants and restrictions are in place to protect the character of Ōma'opio Ridge. No rentals are permitted in this low density development, however as a provision of agricultural zoning, home owners may have a second “farm” dwelling measuring up to 1,000 square feet. No further subdivision is allowed.

Some of the lots have bi-coastal views, others have expansive views of the north shore and others include views of Haleakalā.
